Mozilla showed Firefox OS-based Keon and Peak smartphones

So folks, one more competitor is there in mobile arena now. Browser manufacturer Mozilla on Tuesday introduced two phones powered by its open source Firefox OS platform. Stormy Peters, head of websites and developer engagement at Mozilla said “This week we are announcing our new Firefox OS developer preview phones because we believe that developers will help bring the power of the Web to mobile”. In corporation with a Spanish start-up named GeeksPhone and Spanish telecommunications provider Telefonica, Mozilla unveiled two 3G phones, Keon and Peak. Chip used in both phones is same.

Like android, Firefox is an open operating system that makes use of ?HTML5?apps. Its free and you can customize it if you know how to do? ?It comes with a microSD memory card slot, Wi-Fi N, MicroUSB slot, plus a variety of sensors, including light, proximity and g-sensor. Both these device should become available in February, but there price is not announced yet. You can also install Firefox operating system on your android phone also. The “Keon” model features a small 3.5-inch screen, 1 GHz processor and 4GB storage, making it barely comparable to a cheap Android phone in the US market.
